a girl from oz

I'm a Filipino diplomat brat who is Chicago-born and Australia-raised. I like good coffee, loud music and pretty people.

She’s got an old, shoulder-padded soul

Last Sunday’s thrifting excursion yielded a stained glass votive holder, an antique chair with a yellow cushion, a huge (HUGE), light-up globe that still has the USSR on it and a small bell jar with a cork stopper that, once opened, smells instantly of old lady: flowers… powder… and the feel of warm, musty closet.

Oh, I got a silk dress, too. A military-cut olive green one with shoulder pads pinned inside. Even without the pads it looks very Working Girl 80s and I can’t wait to wear it tomorrow to the office, complete with Mom’s old Anne Klein safari print scarf and my clunky suede wedges that are not all too comfortable to walk in. But oh how they rock.
